The questions we most often answer.
Difficult moments come with practical questions. Here are the ones we hear most. If yours isn't here, please call us.
My horse just passed away. What should I do first?
Take a breath. The most important first step is calling your veterinarian if you haven't already, both for any documentation you may want and for support. Then call us at 909-390-9829 — or for after-hours, our cell at 909-732-3267 — and we will walk you through the rest. We can typically dispatch the same day.
How quickly can you arrive after I call?
For most of our service area, same-day pickup is typical during business hours. For after-hours emergencies, we dispatch as quickly as our location and current schedule allow. The further your property is from our Ontario facility, the more travel time you should expect.
Do you provide emergency after-hours service?
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency response — including overnight, weekends, and holidays — for an additional fee. Call our cell at 909-732-3267 for after-hours dispatch.
What areas do you service?
All of Southern California. That includes the Inland Empire, Greater Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego County, the High Desert, and the Coachella Valley. If you're unsure whether we cover your location, please call us — and if we can't help, we'll refer you to someone who can.
Can I drop my animal off at your facility?
Yes. Owners are welcome to bring an animal to our Ontario facility at 2107 S. Milliken Ave., Ontario, CA 91761. We do ask that you call ahead at 909-390-9829 so we can be ready to receive you when you arrive.
What is a necropsy, and how does that work?
A necropsy is a post-mortem examination — essentially the veterinary equivalent of an autopsy — performed to determine cause of death. They are sometimes requested by insurance providers, and sometimes by owners who want answers about an unexpected loss.
We provide transport to the UC Davis veterinary diagnostic laboratory for necropsy. The lab requires documentation from a veterinarian before accepting an animal, so we coordinate with your vet to ensure paperwork is in order before transport.
Can you coordinate with my veterinarian for euthanasia?
Yes — and we recommend it. We can be present at your property at the same time as your vet, so your horse is laid to rest in their own pasture and never has to be moved while still alive. This is one of the most compassionate ways to handle the process. Just let us know your vet, your preferred date, and we'll coordinate the timing.
What does the service cost?
Cost depends on the type and size of animal, the location of your property, the time of day, and the service requested (basic removal, transport to crematory, transport to UC Davis lab, etc.). We provide quotes over the phone — call us at 909-390-9829 with the details and we will give you a clear price.
What's the difference between cremation and aquamation?
Cremation uses heat to reduce remains; aquamation (also called alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation) uses water and alkaline chemistry. Aquamation is generally considered more environmentally gentle and produces a similar end result for owners who wish to keep their pet's remains. Several of our cremation partners offer both options — we're happy to help you decide which is right for your situation.
Are you licensed?
Yes. We are a licensed dead animal hauler and collection center. We operate in compliance with California state regulations regarding livestock and large-animal disposal.
How will my animal be handled?
With care. We bring purpose-built equipment that is regularly cleaned and maintained. We work at your pace — there is no rush. We've handled animals in this work for over fifty years, and we treat each one as if it were our own.
Have a question we haven't answered?
Call us. We'd rather speak with you and answer it directly than leave you wondering.
